Gestational Surrogacy; the wide-ranging procedure and it’s worth

Gestational Surrogacy; the wide-ranging procedure and it’s worth

Gestational surrogacy is the most prevailing type of treatment of the Assisted Reproductive Technology. This surrogacy involves through using one woman’s womb to embed and to carry the embryo to deliver babies for another couple. Gestational surrogacy  has become very preferred  today, because it is such an arrangement where the substitute mother is not biologically related to the  child as she simply gestates the phrase of surrogacy. Gestational surrogacy is the wonderful way to those women, who are unable to conceive a pregnancy due to their medical challenges or other helplessness. Generally, the extensive procedure begins with the surrogate agencies. Today, millions of women across the world  wants to know the stages and the criteria associated with gestational surrogacy as they want to be the significant part of the selfless act otherwise they are searching for the proxy mother who can give the life changing gift which is one of the most precious concern to them.

The pervasive procedure

Both the intended parent and the surrogate mother should be clear about this thing that surrogacy is a committed commercial arrangement with the help of advancement of medical science.  Normally, the surrogate agencies explain the  each and every step involved in the process with both of their clients and gestational carrier. At the beginning of the process, first the appropriate surrogate has to go through the appropriate screening test. After that, an agreement get signed by  all  the parties. It is the most important factor in the surrogacy arrangement, because all the potential issues associated with the surrogacy is mentioned through this paperwork. Then the couple gets exhilarate for IVF treatment. IVF treatment is, such a process where the  female egg gets fertilized by intended father’s  sperm outside the body. It is  one of the major effective treatment in the entire surrrogacy procedure to achieve the desired pregnancy. Through this treatment, doctors constantly monitor the ovulatory process of a woman, remove the ovum from the proxy mother’s body and fertilize it with male sperm and store in a melted or fluid medium. The fertilized eggs are transferred to the substitute mother’s uterus after when it is cultured for a few days in the laboratory. Then, the cultured fluid is injected to the substitute mother’s uterus to achieve the pregnancy.

The acclaimed advantages of gestational surrogacy are,  the proxy mother has to fulfil some criteria according to the need and requirements of the intended parents and a gestational carrier always known by the intended parents and has to pass the blood test, uterian evolution and all the medical test associated with the surrogacy and all the genetic and psychological screening. Gestational surrogacy  has become very endorsed today as the intended parents get a scope to have an involvement with the pregnancy and can hold the parenting responsibility immediately.

What is traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy?

What is traditional surrogacy and gestational surrogacy?

A surrogacy is a process where a woman accepts to carry pregnancy for nine months upon a contract made between intended parents. Normally, ladies enter into this contract to get a financial gain. However, couples who seek surrogacy fails to carry their own baby due to the medical complexities. Therefore, surrogate agencies made an agreement between these parties where a surrogate mother needto carry a non-biological baby and relinquish the child immediately after birth. According to the contract made between both parties, the surrogate mother need to cooperate with the medical team to carry pregnancy successfully.

A substitute is impregnated through two different ways; one is traditional way which is considered illegal and banned by most of the states and other is gestational way which is accepted by most of the states. In traditional surrogacy, a lady is impregnated through artificial insemination process. In AI, the intended father’s sperm is directly injected into the ovaries of a substitute. Thereby, the best swimmers fertilize the ova of a substitute mother and thus she becomes pregnant. However, the baby born through this process is biologically connected with surrogate mother and intended father. Therefore this process is completely banned as it is considered illegal and unethical.

In gestational surrogacy, a proxy is impregnated through IVF therapy. In this treatment, the intended mother should take preferred drugs to produce multiple eggs during ovulation because a successful IVF therapy needs multiple eggs. When the physicians find the matured ova in ovaries, they perform a small surgical procedure and take out the ova. Meanwhile, sperm is also taken out from the intended father. This sperms is combined with the ova stored in a test-tube. It takes couple of hours for sperms to fertilize the ovum. Once the ovum is fertilized and grown to a fluid cavity, it is injected into the uterus of a surrogate mother and thereby she becomes pregnant and carries a non-biological child for next nine months.

Having a biological child is one of the beautiful and emotional relationships which every couple wish to enjoy after a married life. Raising a child is one of the most responsible jobs which parents endure in their whole lives. Having a lovely and cute baby in a couple’s life increases their bond, love and relationship with each other. However, when a lady becomes pregnant for the very first time, she may feel excited and anxious also as she also experience many changes in her body and variation in her health. Although everyone loves to experience the feeling of motherhood, some ladies may not feel the same due to their medical complexities such as frequent miscarriages, problem with their uterus, problem in their genes, infertility or poor gametes quality to name a few. The couple who cannot able to bear a child naturally feels devastated and apprehensively look for a ray of hope. However, as the medical field evolves with the growth of technology ladies who cannot carry pregnancy due to any reasons can find a ray of hope through surrogacy.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a process where a woman carries a non-biological baby upon an agreement made with intended parents, also referred as commissioning couples and handover the non-biological baby to the couples immediately after birth.

Types of Surrogacy:

There are two types of surrogacy; traditional and gestational which is also referred as altruistic and commercial; partial and full surrogacy respectively. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate mother who accepts to carry pregnancy upon agreement is impregnated through Artificial Insemination (AI) process. In contrast, in gestational surrogacy, a surrogate mother is impregnated through IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) therapy.

What is gestational surrogacy?

Surrogacy is type of agreement where a woman carries baby for commissioning couples. There are two types of surrogacy; altruistic and commercial which is also referred as traditional and gestational. In traditional surrogacy, a substitute mother is impregnated through artificial insemination process where the sperm of a commissioning or intended father is injected to the ovum of a surrogate mother. The baby born through this process is biologically connected to the intended father and the surrogate mother. However, this process is considered illegal in many states and banned. Therefore, most of the surrogate agencies and commissioning couples prefer gestational surrogacy process. It is one of the most common type of surrogacy and most popular method of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technique).

In gestational surrogacy process, a substitute mother is impregnated through In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. In this therapy, the intended mother or donor egg is taken out and protected in the laboratory; meanwhile, sperm is taken out form the intended father or donor to fertilize the egg. When the sperms are combined with the ovum, it penetrates and fertilizes the ovum within few hours. The fertilized egg is then cultured in the laboratory for four to six days. Once the fertilized egg appears in the fluid form, it is implanted into the uterus of a substitute mother. She then carries the zygote for nine months and delivers a healthy baby. The child born through this procedure is biologically connected to the commissioning couples only if their sperms and eggs are used to form zygote, else it is biologically related with the donor who remains anonymous.

What is gestational surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a process where a lady carries pregnancy for sterile couples. There are two types of surrogacy; traditional and gestational. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate donates her own ovum to carry pregnancy. In this type of surrogacy, a surrogate conceives through artificial insemination (AI) treatment where the sperms of intended father or donor sperm is injected to the ovaries of a surrogate mother to achieve pregnancy. But this process is considered illegal therefore, most of the surrogate agencies do not follow this process rather intended parents and surrogate mother depends on gestational surrogacy process.

A lady who carries pregnancy through gestational process is referred as gestational carrier. In this process, pregnancy is achieved though In-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. Gestational surrogacy is accepted by the different state laws and is considered legal. In IVF treatment, intended parent’s egg and sperm is collected and cultured in the laboratory for about two to six days to form zygote. The ovum of intended mother is fertilized by inducing intended father’s sperm. Physicians constantly monitor the fertilization process and once they see the formation of two nuclei visually, they inject the cultured zygote to the uterus of the surrogate mother to achieve pregnancy.

The baby born through gestational surrogacy process is genetically related with intended parents if their sperm and egg is used to form zygote. In this process, two parties is involved; the first party is the intended parents whose sperm and egg are used and the second party is surrogate mother whose uterus is used to carry pregnancy. In some cases, when intended father or intended mother fails to produce reproductive hormones, donors are used to form zygote. In such case, three parties will be involved in over all process.

What is gestational surrogacy?

Infertility is a problem that hits many people around the world where lot of female partners struggle to conceive. When women come to know that they are not able to conceive, it is totally difficult for them to grasp the truth and it can be very troubling and stressful. A ray of hope for sterile couples emerged with the advancement of medical technologies. The infertile couple can fulfill their dreams of parenthood by hiring a surrogate mother. The baby born through a surrogate is genetically relevant to the intended parents and unrelated to a surrogate mother. A proxy lady can give birth to a baby that is harmonically not relevant to her through In-vitro fertilization procedure. It is a part of gestational surrogacy where women is conceived when embryo created by IVF is transferred to her uterus.

In-vitro fertilization, popularly known as IVF treatment is considered a major medication for infertility. In this procedure, female egg is fertilized by male sperm outside the human body. This treatment is suggested when all assisted reproductive technology (ART) is failed. The fertilized egg will be in a fluid medium which is cultured in a laboratory for two to six days and then transferred to a surrogate mother’s uterus.

Normally, the IVF treatment is used to surmount female infertility. Women suffer from infertility when fallopian tubes make in vivo fertilization difficult. If there is a problem with the quality of male sperm, then intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is used where a male sperm is directly injected into the egg cell. According to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, IVF treatment is specified in unexplained infertility for women where a female partner is unable conceive after 2 years of regular unguarded sexual intercourse. For a successful IVF medication, it requires healthy ova, sperms and a uterus to maintain pregnancy. The therapy is endeavored only when less expensive medications such as ART failed due to the huge cost associated with this remedy.

Know how gestational surrogacy works

Infertility is a problem that makes many couples to lose their hopes of becoming parents. This condition can be stressful and creates trouble in the lives of the childless couples. There are many reasons for infertility; however for the sterile couples becoming parents for biologically related child is the only goal in their life. Now childless couples can achieve their lifetime goal through surrogacy process. There are two types of surrogacy; gestational and traditional. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate mother becomes pregnant by using her own eggs. The baby born through traditional surrogacy will be genetically relevant to the intended father and the substitute. However, traditional surrogacy involves lots of risks and in some states this process is considered illegal.

Almost all surrogate agencies prefer gestational surrogacy and the proxy mother is referred as gestational carrier. In-vitro fertilization (IVF) is used in this form of surrogacy. In this treatment, intended mother egg is fertilized with intended father sperm in the laboratory. The resultant zygote is cultured for six days. The fluid form of zygote is injected to the uterus of the surrogate mother to achieve pregnancy. The baby born through this process is genetically relevant to the intended parents.

The first step in this process is to find the best surrogate agencies in the United States of America who carefully screen the proxies and check their medical history. Once you are successful in finding the best substitute agency, the rest of the process such as arranging a meeting with surrogate, doctor appointment and legal issues are taken care of by the agency. The only job for intended parents is to enjoy the first kick and the movement of their baby present in the surrogate’s womb. Rest will be taken care of by the agency.

What is gestational surrogacy?

Gestational surrogacy is a process where a gestational carrier becomes pregnant through artificial insemination. The artificial insemination is done through In-vitro fertilization treatment. IVF is a major treatment suggested for infertile couples when other assisted reproductive technology treatments are failed. In this therapy, woman’s egg is fertilized outside the human body. In IVF, women ovulatory system is constantly stimulated and monitored by the expert physicians. Fertility drugs are given to the patient to produce more than one egg since ova are required for successful IVF treatment. During this process, doctors use ultrasound and blood test to check whether the ova are ready for retrieval or not.

Once they detect the ova are ready for retrieval, they perform a simple surgical procedure by giving small amount of anesthesia to remove ova outside the body. If they fail to retrieve ova from ovaries, they perform laparoscopic surgery to retrieve eggs. In this surgery, doctors insert suction tube directly to the ovaries through abdomen. Although this procedure sounds simple, it requires strong anesthesia to carry out this surgery. After taking out the ova, a physician examines each and every ovum to select the strong ovum that can support IVF treatment. This strong ovum is placed in a cultural medium to await insemination. Meanwhile, the best swimmers are retrieved from intended father semen. The sperms are added to the ovum in the incubator.

After adding sperm with ovum, within few hours it penetrates and fertilizes the egg. However, doctors confirm this process when they visually see the two pronuclei. These pronuclei are the foundation of the zygote. After six days of fertilization, a fluid cavity is seen, which results in the formation of placenta and fetal tissues. This liquid is injected to the uterus of a surrogate to achieve pregnancy and this procedure is referred as gestational surrogacy. In this procedure, the baby is formed by the intended mother (donor) egg and intended father (donor) sperm. Therefore, the baby is harmonically irrelevant to the surrogate mother. Most of the agencies prefer this procedure because surrogate mum never feel bad to hand over the baby, which is irrelevant to her.

What is gestational surrogacy

With the introduction of IVF treatment, gestational proxy came into existence.  Intended couples who wish to have their child are genetically connected with the baby, whereas the mother who delivers a child to them is in no way connected with the child except giving a room for the baby in her womb.  It is as simple as that and mother and baby are biologically differ with each other.  This is known as gestational substitute.  Surrogate mother only delivers the baby on behalf of intended parents. The  couple who desires to have a child takes over the responsibility of bringing up the child, once the mother delivers the baby.  Parenting responsibility will be managed by the couple then after.

So, what us gestational surrogacy In gestational surrogacy the egg and sperm are fertilized outside under laboratory conditions.  In vitro fertilization takes place and often surrogate mother will remain a stranger to those people who wish for their child.  In gestational proxy the embryo is implanted in the uterus of a woman and it will grow there till its birth, and after delivery it will be handed over to its biological parents.

Often it has been observed that egg donor and sperm donor both are unknown to parents who wish to have a child.  Surrogate mother needs to undergo various medical check ups.  She will be screened for infectious diseases and physical health.  Menstrual periods and other health requirements are checked out before choosing for surrogacy.

Intended parents surrogacy and the payments

The Surrogate is a complex process and when surrogate mother is required intended parents need to solve different issues.  One of the main issues is payment for various expenses.  They had to look after many things like Insurance, Medical expenses, clinic fees, attorney fees, agency fees, surrogate fees and other miscellaneous fees.  Since every aspect is very important so that in future there will be no issues that can complicate the process.

The situations where one decides to have a proxy mum is different and unique.  A wide range of fees will be paid for every test and everything will be documented.  The type of surrogacy required are to be decided, whether a traditional surrogacy or gestational surrogacy, when decided, in either case, screening is essential to decide who is suitable to carry out this significant responsibility.

It is a family decision and intended parents surrogacy should be accepted among family members.  Therefore, it is important to consider all these issues before proceeding with the decision.  The first two main issues involved here is a family bondage, emotional sensitivity, and financial conditions. Fertility treatment involves a team work.  A team includes, attorney, family doctor, fertility clinic experts, family members, proxy mum, and a company that executes all these issues from beginning till the end, until the baby is delivered and handed over the intended parents.

Therefore, the payments need to be paid for the services and it is very costly.  Financial fitness is very much essential for those who wish to hire a substitute mother.

Gestational Surrogacy for having your own biological child

In gestational proxy, the mother delivers a biologically non related child.  That means in gestational proxy, egg and sperm are made to fertilize outside the womb of the surrogate mother and the embryo is implanted in the womb.  That is genetically different from the proxy mother.

This is very important.  Couples who wish to have an infant of their own cannot reproduce due to various medical problems, but they are healthy to produce eggs and wish to have a baby from their own genes.  In this case of gestational surrogacy, usually the egg donor will be the intended mother and it is made fertilized with the sperms of her husband outside under medically aided process.

When the eggs are fertilized and becomes embryo, they will be transferred to a substitute who agrees to carry the embryo in her womb till the completion of gestation period.  When the gestational period is completed, she has to deliver the child and child belongs to intended parents.  Therefore, in gestational surrogacy, the proxy is genetically not connected to an infant she delivers.  This method is known as In Vitro fertilization and it is popularly known as IVF.

The process of helping the intended mother to get her genetically related baby is the biggest help that surrogate mother can do to the prospective mother.  The screening cost, cost of legal procedures, medical expenditures, maternity expenses, baby care and other relative costs are borne by the prospective parents and they get their child through this method and they are ready to pay for the gestational surrogacy.
