Seeking surrogacy help

Seeking surrogacy help

Having a biological child is one of the beautiful and emotional relationships which every couple wish to enjoy after a married life. Raising a child is one of the most responsible jobs which parents endure in their whole lives. Having a lovely and cute baby in a couple’s life increases their bond, love and relationship with each other. However, when a lady becomes pregnant for the very first time, she may feel excited and anxious also as she also experience many changes in her body and variation in her health. Although everyone loves to experience the feeling of motherhood, some ladies may not feel the same due to their medical complexities such as frequent miscarriages, problem with their uterus, problem in their genes, infertility or poor gametes quality to name a few. The couple who cannot able to bear a child naturally feels devastated and apprehensively look for a ray of hope. However, as the medical field evolves with the growth of technology ladies who cannot carry pregnancy due to any reasons can find a ray of hope through surrogacy.

What is surrogacy?

Surrogacy is a process where a woman carries a non-biological baby upon an agreement made with intended parents, also referred as commissioning couples and handover the non-biological baby to the couples immediately after birth.

Types of Surrogacy:

There are two types of surrogacy; traditional and gestational which is also referred as altruistic and commercial; partial and full surrogacy respectively. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate mother who accepts to carry pregnancy upon agreement is impregnated through Artificial Insemination (AI) process. In contrast, in gestational surrogacy, a surrogate mother is impregnated through IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) therapy.

The need of egg donors

The problem of infertility is growing year to year. Couples who are suffering from infertility or any other medical problem which prevents them to give birth to a child are turning towards surrogacy process. However, it is a known fact that traditional surrogacy is prohibited in many states. Therefore, the intended parents who wish to complete their family with a biological child are turning towards gestational surrogacy method. Most of the sterile couples take help from the surrogate agency to find the suitable surrogate to achieve their dream. The surrogate agency screens every proxy to match the requirements of intended couples and arrange for a meeting with substitute upon special request of the intended parents. Once the surrogate and intended couples are happy with their partnership, agency will make a contract between both in order to proceed further. This contract plays a significant role in entire process of surrogacy.

Since many state law permits the surrogacy process only with gestation treatment, In-vitro fertilization treatment is required to achieve pregnancy. In this treatment the intended mother ovum is fertilized with the intended father sperm outside the body to form a zygote. If the couples are suffering from infertility i.e., inability to produce quality sperm or ova, donors come to the picture. However, if the sterile couples use donors for IVF treatment, couples need to reimburse the contributors. Sometimes, if a male is failed to produce quality sperm, male donor sperm is used to fertilize the intended mother ovum. If female is failed to produce quality ova, then female contributor’s ova is used to form zygote. However, if both failed to produce quality reproductive hormones, then both male and female contributor’s sperm and ova is used to form the zygote.

The compensation paid to the donor depends upon several factors. If the sterile couple use both male and female contributors they need to pay both. If the couples are searching for a particular quality of sperm or egg then, they have to pay extra compensation. All these things are mentioned in the contract made between the couples and surrogate. Normally, the compensation paid to egg donors range from $5,000 to $10,000. However, the compensation may vary depending upon the place, previous donation made by the contributors and ethnic diversity. The compensation may go high if the sterile couples look for a specific set of character and personality in contributors.

The agencies also search for the best donors upon the request of intended parents. They arrange a meeting between the contributors and donors where the compensation paid to them can be discussed. If sterile couple needs to have their own biological problems in spite of their medical condition, they need to opt for a best surrogate and best donor to achieve their dreams and lead their family life happily.

What is gestational surrogacy

With the introduction of IVF treatment, gestational proxy came into existence.  Intended couples who wish to have their child are genetically connected with the baby, whereas the mother who delivers a child to them is in no way connected with the child except giving a room for the baby in her womb.  It is as simple as that and mother and baby are biologically differ with each other.  This is known as gestational substitute.  Surrogate mother only delivers the baby on behalf of intended parents. The  couple who desires to have a child takes over the responsibility of bringing up the child, once the mother delivers the baby.  Parenting responsibility will be managed by the couple then after.

So, what us gestational surrogacy In gestational surrogacy the egg and sperm are fertilized outside under laboratory conditions.  In vitro fertilization takes place and often surrogate mother will remain a stranger to those people who wish for their child.  In gestational proxy the embryo is implanted in the uterus of a woman and it will grow there till its birth, and after delivery it will be handed over to its biological parents.

Often it has been observed that egg donor and sperm donor both are unknown to parents who wish to have a child.  Surrogate mother needs to undergo various medical check ups.  She will be screened for infectious diseases and physical health.  Menstrual periods and other health requirements are checked out before choosing for surrogacy.
