Taking the decision to become a surrogate mum

Surrogacy is a wonderful journey for most of the women who have generous heart and strong intention to help the childless couples. However, women need to know various factors before taking a decision to become a surrogate mother. Although internet provides you much valuable information about surrogate mother, I strongly recommend consulting a lawyer who has in-depth knowledge in surrogacy laws. You can also find the best surrogate agencies in the United States of America who can help along the way.

Once you decide to become a substitute, you’ll need to consider what type of proxy you are going to be. There are two types of surrogacy; gestational and traditional. If you choose traditional surrogacy, you need to use your own eggs to become pregnant and the baby born through this process is harmonically relevant to you and the intended father. In gestational surrogacy, you will not use your eggs. Instead the intended mother’s egg is fertilized with the intended father’s sperm and the resulting zygote is injected to your uterus in order to achieve pregnancy. The baby born through this process is genetically irrelevant to you, only you carry the baby for nine months.

However, if you choose gestational surrogacy, you should be ready to visit physicians regularly. Once you have decided which type of surrogacy is good for you, it is the time to search for trustworthy couples. The reason to mention “trustworthy” couples is some childless couples look for private surrogacy only to save costs, directly it means they are not ready to spend more money for this process. However, if ladies register in the agencies and work under them, they can expect good compensation and total security.

Now it is up to you to decide the type of surrogacy and whether work or not to work under an agency.

Know how gestational surrogacy works

Infertility is a problem that makes many couples to lose their hopes of becoming parents. This condition can be stressful and creates trouble in the lives of the childless couples. There are many reasons for infertility; however for the sterile couples becoming parents for biologically related child is the only goal in their life. Now childless couples can achieve their lifetime goal through surrogacy process. There are two types of surrogacy; gestational and traditional. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate mother becomes pregnant by using her own eggs. The baby born through traditional surrogacy will be genetically relevant to the intended father and the substitute. However, traditional surrogacy involves lots of risks and in some states this process is considered illegal.

Almost all surrogate agencies prefer gestational surrogacy and the proxy mother is referred as gestational carrier. In-vitro fertilization (IVF) is used in this form of surrogacy. In this treatment, intended mother egg is fertilized with intended father sperm in the laboratory. The resultant zygote is cultured for six days. The fluid form of zygote is injected to the uterus of the surrogate mother to achieve pregnancy. The baby born through this process is genetically relevant to the intended parents.

The first step in this process is to find the best surrogate agencies in the United States of America who carefully screen the proxies and check their medical history. Once you are successful in finding the best substitute agency, the rest of the process such as arranging a meeting with surrogate, doctor appointment and legal issues are taken care of by the agency. The only job for intended parents is to enjoy the first kick and the movement of their baby present in the surrogate’s womb. Rest will be taken care of by the agency.

How to find a surrogate mother

When we are talking about the surrogacy process, one of the biggest questions for childless couples is to find a suitable surrogate. When you decide to have a baby through surrogacy process, contact best agencies in the United States of America, take advice from your friends and relatives. There are hundreds of surrogate agencies throughout the USA who are ready to assist intended parents and match them with the right proxy mum. Added to this, the agencies also provide ESCROW, liaison and legal services to the surrogate mothers in USA. However, proxy agencies vary in price that makes a difference up to thousands of dollars. But, we strongly recommend intended parents to check the surrogate bureau before filling application form.

Many biological parents look for private surrogacy process rather than contacting a proxy bureau to cut out the cost of surrogacy. If you want to cut the cost, place an ad in classifieds and check the response, but be sure to hire the best woman as a proxy. Check the background of a proxy, her family members, age and her medical condition. Once you are satisfied with the results, then you can enter into a surrogate contract. When you choose the company to find a suitable substitute for you, they maintain a database of surrogatemothers in USA. They contact those ladies and match the best lady for intended parents. They also arrange a meeting for both parties and once they feel convenient to work with each other, they will make surrogate contract.

A surrogate mother needs to undergo prescribed medical tests to become pregnant through IVF. The fertilized egg is injected to the uterus in order to achieve pregnancy. A proxy carries that baby for nine months and handover to the intended parents after delivery. We strongly suggest biological parents to select a substitute through an agency rather than working privately because it involves a lot of issues to be addressed. Agency will take care about these factors in order to help the biological parents and surrogates.

How to become a surrogate mother?

Becoming a surrogate mother and carrying others baby for nine months is not an easy job. To become a surrogate mother, a lady should have generous heart and sensitiveness towards couples who are not able to have a baby. There are numerous physical, legal, emotional and financial issues involve in the surrogacy process. When you receive the compensation for your services, it cannot be equated to the difficulties you face during the tenure. A lady working as a surrogate is led to many of the above issues and if the lady works privately, she needs to take care of each and every aspect of the process. Therefore, we suggest surrogates to work through an agency rather than working privately.

Contact the best surrogate agency in your state and request for an application. The agency checks your application and suggests some medical tests to check whether you medically fit to carry pregnancy. Once the medically history allows you to carry pregnancy, agency will explain federal rules governing who can or cannot become surrogate mother. The federal rules say about the age range, prior pregnancy experience and overall health. If a woman is facing some medical complications, she is not allowed to become a substitute.

We strongly recommend the ladies to fill in the proxy form truthfully. If you did not answer the question truthfully, you need to face legal complications. Women need to provide basic details such as age, health status and family support towards her decision. Ladies should be ready to undergo prescribed examinations suggested by the agency. Once everything is up to their mark, they will match you with the intended parents. A surrogate agreement is made between both parties outlining the compensation paid to a proxy, medical fee, monthly expenses, legal fee and agency fee.

Look for these things in a surrogate mother

For millions of ladies around the world becoming a mother is a lifetime goal; despite their biological and medical limitations. Many couples around the world were not able to become parents due to one or another reason as ladies are physically unable to carry a child due to infertility or spouse infertility. Hopefully, the medical advancement gives a ray of hope to the couples who wish to have their own biological child naturally even if the ladies are unable to conceive. Yes, this is possible through surrogacy process. Many state laws have given permission to gestational surrogacy process and consider the biological parents as child parents rather than surrogate. Even, the surrogate agreement defines that intended couples are the legal parents of the child born through surrogate process.

Then what actually surrogacy is? It is a method of IVF where embryo (zygote) is injected to the uterus of a surrogate mother. The embryo is fertilized in the laboratory by retrieving the ovum from female body and combines it with sperms of the intended father to form zygote. Because of this process, the resulting baby is biologically related to the intended couples and unrelated to the surrogate mother. After injecting the embryo, the surrogate carries the baby for nine months and after delivery it will be handed over to biological couples. The surrogate agencies play a vital role in overall process of surrogacy. However, biological parents need to compensate for substitute services. The agreement made between the two parties briefly outline the compensation paid to a surrogate mother, IVF treatment fee, medical expenses, monthly expenses, attorney fee and agency fee.

This agreement is very essential for both intended parents and proxy to protect their rights and to take the custody of new born legally.

What is gestational surrogacy?

Gestational surrogacy is a process where a gestational carrier becomes pregnant through artificial insemination. The artificial insemination is done through In-vitro fertilization treatment. IVF is a major treatment suggested for infertile couples when other assisted reproductive technology treatments are failed. In this therapy, woman’s egg is fertilized outside the human body. In IVF, women ovulatory system is constantly stimulated and monitored by the expert physicians. Fertility drugs are given to the patient to produce more than one egg since ova are required for successful IVF treatment. During this process, doctors use ultrasound and blood test to check whether the ova are ready for retrieval or not.

Once they detect the ova are ready for retrieval, they perform a simple surgical procedure by giving small amount of anesthesia to remove ova outside the body. If they fail to retrieve ova from ovaries, they perform laparoscopic surgery to retrieve eggs. In this surgery, doctors insert suction tube directly to the ovaries through abdomen. Although this procedure sounds simple, it requires strong anesthesia to carry out this surgery. After taking out the ova, a physician examines each and every ovum to select the strong ovum that can support IVF treatment. This strong ovum is placed in a cultural medium to await insemination. Meanwhile, the best swimmers are retrieved from intended father semen. The sperms are added to the ovum in the incubator.

After adding sperm with ovum, within few hours it penetrates and fertilizes the egg. However, doctors confirm this process when they visually see the two pronuclei. These pronuclei are the foundation of the zygote. After six days of fertilization, a fluid cavity is seen, which results in the formation of placenta and fetal tissues. This liquid is injected to the uterus of a surrogate to achieve pregnancy and this procedure is referred as gestational surrogacy. In this procedure, the baby is formed by the intended mother (donor) egg and intended father (donor) sperm. Therefore, the baby is harmonically irrelevant to the surrogate mother. Most of the agencies prefer this procedure because surrogate mum never feel bad to hand over the baby, which is irrelevant to her.

Suggestions for surrogate mother

When you wish to become a surrogate, it shows your sensitivity and kindheartedness towards childless couples. Whatever the reasons may be, choosing surrogacy process and carrying some other child is not as simple as it looks. Ladies who are working as surrogates know that all agencies do careful screening before hiring. However, proxies also know that they are the last hope for the intended parents to realize their dream of parenthood by having a harmonically relevant baby. Although the surrogacy agreement defines your rights and responsibilities, you need to make sure that everything is correct or not. Here are some suggestions for the surrogate mothers to take about themselves

Educate yourself:

If you want to become a surrogate mother, try to get all the details about the treatment involved in surrogacy process, how agencies help surrogatemothers and who are all involved in the process. Most IVF clinics define different procedures of artificial insemination by providing the relevant snaps. Don’t neglect these details and try to learn about all the existing requirements. It will help you to understanding the treatments given to achieve pregnancy.

Read surrogate agreement carefully:

It is very important for the surrogates to read and understand the agreement made between both parties. It is the legal copy that represents your rights and responsibility, compensation paid to you, details about monthly expenses, rights of the intended parents, your living expenses after handing over the child and finally the medical expenses paid by the biological parents. If you are not sure about a single point, you can ask your agency to change it and explain it elaborately. This agreement acts as a backbone in overall process of surrogacy. In short, I can say read all the points with a grain of salt.

Once you are sure about the details mentioned in surrogate, treatments involved in the process and establish a healthy relationship with the intended parents, and then your journey of surrogacy will be good and enjoyable.

Who is a surrogate mother?

A surrogate is a woman who agrees to carry genetically irrelevant baby for the sake of intended parents. She becomes pregnant with the assisted reproductive technology treatment such as In-vitro fertilization or artificial insemination. However, In-vitro fertilization is most popular treatment used to achieve pregnancy. It is known as gestational surrogacy and the lady who carries intended parent’s baby through this process is known as gestational carrier. The proxy mother carries the baby for nine months and gives birth. After birth, the surrogate hand overs the child to intended parents

Types of surrogacy:

There are two types of surrogacy – gestational and traditional. In traditional surrogacy, a surrogate donates her own egg to carry pregnancy whereas in gestational the embryo fertilized in the laboratory is injected to the uterus of a surrogate to achieve pregnancy. In traditional surrogacy, the resulting child is genetically relevant to the surrogate and intended father. In gestational process, the resulting baby is biologically related to intended parents and harmonically irrelevant to a proxy mum.

However, most of the state laws accept gestational surrogacy while traditional surrogacy is considered illegal and banned. Therefore, the surrogate agencies in the United States of America suggest biological and LGBT couples to choose gestational process rather than traditional way. The agencies thoroughly check the medical history of a lady willing to work as proxy before suggesting her to the childless couple. However, suitable arrangement will be made for proxy’s living, compensation, medical expenses and miscellaneous expenses. All these things are mentioned in a surrogate agreement made between childless couple and proxy.

Surrogacy – Hope for intended parents and LGBT couples

Couples who are suffering from infertility struggle a lot to establish their family. The only hope for sterile and LGBT couples to establish their family is surrogacy. Intended parents can hire surrogates to fulfill their dream of parenthood by having a biologically related child. A surrogate becomes pregnant for the sake of childless couples, which is widely become popular as intended parents surrogacy. Surrogate agencies play a vital role in establishing a healthy relationship between childless couple and substitute. Couples who are looking for the best proxy to realize their dreams should contact the best agency in the USA as they help you in finding the suitable lady who match your requirements and work professionally.

Hiring a lady who works professionally is very important for both biological parents and agencies because the process involves huge amount of money as well as the hope of childless couples. Therefore, most of the agencies do careful screening and try to understand the true intentions of a lady who wishes to become surrogate. A lady working as substitute should have at least one biological healthy child and should get complete support from her husband, family, friends and relatives. She should not face any complications in her previous pregnancy and should have good medical history to become pregnant once again.

Strict screening is done by the agencies by considering the above factors. Once the substitute’s medical history and other factors match the requirements of the intended parents, agreement is made between the two that briefly outlines about the compensation, medical fee, legal costs and other factors involved in surrogacy process.

How to choose a surrogate?

The big dream of childless couple is to establish their family by having a biological child. The only way to have a biological child is through surrogacy process. However, it is good to contact the best agency in the USA to choose surrogate. Consider the following facts to choose a right surrogate.

Check whether the lady wants to become surrogate for right reasons. It is better to understand her point of view towards surrogacy and what makes her to help sterile couples. If the reason is to help childless couples to establish their family or loves to become pregnant again, then it is good. However, it is not good to hire ladies whose prime motivation is to make money through surrogacy.

Check the medical history of a lady. Intended parents can hire lady who have her own child of good health. She should not face any miscarriages or complications in pregnancy as it will affect in her future attempts, as well. However, choosing a lady who gave birth to a healthy child is better because after giving birth to your baby, she should not change her mind and decide to keep the baby with her. None of the statelaws opposes to decision of surrogate as they consider surrogate as the mother of the newborn.

Check whether she have a strong support from her family or not, is she friendly and adopt herself to the atmosphere, is she courteous towards your family and check whether she feels convenient to attend frequent medical check-ups.

If the lady is really courteous and can handover the baby without creating any obstacles, intended parents can hire that lady as a surrogate.

How surrogate pregnancy is achieved?

Surrogacy is a process where a lady carry genetically irrelevant baby in her womb. This process allows sterile, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender couples to establish their family by having a genetically relevant baby. Surrogate pregnancy can be achieved through in-vitro fertilization therapy. This treatment normally takes four to six weeks to become successful. Initially, fertility drug is given to the woman to produce quality eggs instead of one, as the successful treatment needs multiple eggs. The physicians use ultrasound therapy and blood test to determine whether the ova are ready for retrieval.

Once the eggs are ready for retrieval, doctors perform trans vaginal ultrasound therapy to locate the matured eggs in ovary. Once the matured eggs are located, a needle is inserted into ovaries to suck the ova. However, if trans vaginal ultrasound therapy fails to detect ova, laparoscopic surgery is performed. After retrieving ova, doctors examine each and every ovum and select the most potential ovum for a successful surrogate pregnancy. Physicians place eggs in the IVF cultural medium for insemination. Meanwhile, quality sperms is retrieved from the semen of intended father and then combined with the ovum stored in the incubator.

When the sperms are combined with ovum, the best swimmer fertilizes an egg within a matter of hours. Doctors visually confirm the fertilization once they see two pronuclei. After one week, zygote is developed in the laboratory, which is injected to the uterus of a surrogate in order to achieve pregnancy. A surrogate then carries the baby for nine months and handover the child to biological parents after delivery.
