Humanity and society always tried to have
their progeny and they always aspire to have stronger generation to follow
them. Family life is always important
for a man. When a couple cannot
reproduce, they require somebody who can donate the egg and carry the child on
behalf of the intended mother. The
mother who will deliver the child to the childless couple is known as surrogate mother. Improvements in medical science and treatment
that include higher level of technology to fulfill the desire and wish of
childless parents has grown in an extraordinary level. Where infertility treatment fails, surrogacy
and the proxy mum will come into the picture.
The term surrogacy and substitute mother
have been coined by a famous scientific fiction author Robin cook in is popular
novel “The Surrogate Mother”. When he
wrote this novel, the science is still in its infant stage, now, whatever he
has narrated in his novel, everything has been attained in reality. The infertility and childless trauma and the
agony experienced by the parents is beyond explanation and couple often become
disgusted. Modern technology and modern
science have given a ray of hope to those couples where they can get a child using
a proxy mother.
Having their own family, living with
children is a dream of every couple.
When it is not possible they can decide to take the help of a surrogate mother if they are
financially and emotionally stable. But
the process of having a child through surrogacy is not as easy as mentioned
since the process is complicated and lengthy and it will take a minimum of one
to one and half year time. There are
many legal issues involved in this process.
