Is surrogacy completes the dream of infertile people?

According to the reports available for the source of the CDC and the SART (Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology), number of babies born through gestational surrogacy process which predominately use IVF treatment to give birth for the babies is almost doubled. The major part of the people opting for surrogacy is either infertile or LGBT’s and some women suffer from serious medical problems where doctors strictly avoid them to become pregnant. Some decades back, people suffering from infertility have an only option of adopting a child from orphanage, but still feels bad by thinking their family is incomplete. Today, due to the medical advancement, sterile couples can establish their family by having their own biological child to bring happiness in their life.

The increase of surrogacy process gave rise to many legal, religious and emotional issues which ought to be addressed by both intended parents and the surrogate. In some states, the surrogacy process is strictly prohibited where is some states the process is accepted with restrictions. In some states, the law specifies that surrogacy process is accepted only through gestational procedure and traditional way is strictly prohibited. All these issues gave rise to the growth of surrogate agencies, where they help the intended parents to have their biological baby in a legal way.

The growth of gestational babies solely depends on surrogate agency where they screen both sterile couple and a proxy before making a legal arrangement. However, some organizations argue that handing over a baby after nine months will give an emotional trauma to a proxy. In contrast, some ladies work as substitutes voluntarily in order to establish the family of childless couple. The ladies who agree to work as surrogate may be the relative of a family member or completely strange. However, it is true that some ladies work as proxy to uplift the financial condition of their family. As the intentions of surrogates and intended parents vary from each other, the agencies work their best to match the intended couple and the proxy.

Once the intended parents are comfortable working with a proxy, the agency will make an agreement between them providing the details of compensation, medical aid, bed charges, medication fee, and the compensation paid to the proxy. The contract briefly outlines the legal issues and the proxy acceptance to hand over the baby after birth. This contract is very essential for intended parents to take the custody of the baby after birth making it as legitimate. In the birth certificate of a baby, intended parents name is mentioned instead of a proxy name. Surrogate agencies play a significant role in entire surrogacy process.
